Time to reflect on a few things. When you are in summer mode or in the classroom, during the year Youtube can be a true ally in saving you some time and making you grow as well. </span></h2><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-weight: normal;">1. Use YouTube in class</span></h4><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span> </span> I have used Youtube and Vimeo in class to show students primary sources videos, music clips and to access listening content that is more elevated than what you find in the textbooks. Videos accessible for free that you can curate into your library are available for all levels. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">French 5, for instance has benefitted, especially during the pandemic from watching videos (they loved the </span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/N5YEj2elfJs" width="320" youtube-src-id="N5YEj2elfJs"></iframe></span></div><span style="font-family: georgia;"><br />Foufou videos) for instance, I also used videos from Québec and TV5 , to widden their lense. It is very important to make sure your classes are demonstrating diversity and inclusion at all levels. </span><p></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">French 6 loved to discover French artists and started also watching some of the Learn with Alexa videos (I will explain more in the next section). While the 6 the grae was doing some writing or some notebook organizing they I would play various types of artists, rap, I discovered this year that I am a fan of Belgian music rather then French music. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">With French 8, I used a variety of videos based on cultural exploration, from newsclips, weather forecast, but most importantly and useful, I used the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7h1upgZ_vhJxVyrZdqGryeJCFzThEejx">Un jour une question</a> videos, it has the tri-fecta: current events questions raised by kids, transcripts on their website, and some visual help. </span></p><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">2. YouTube for homework and supporting students</span>. </span></h4><div><span style="font-family: georgia;">Like many I have used Edpuzzle for assignments and there is a lot to be said about how easy it is for students and teachers to use the videos on there. Sometimes it is just easier to give the direct link to a video to our students. There are great examples of teacher using flipped classrooms. When I find my students can benefit from extended explanations or a different wording I would send them to watch a video or two- I have some go-to accounts that I look up first before anything else. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: georgia;">- <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK6TzBHhEUCKa6dgjlsVHEw">French with Alexa</a> - I know the kids will remember to look her up before anyone else because....Alexa of course. Students can pause and play as they need, they benefit from the English, and as you know during the pandemic, and mask-wearing it was hard for the students to see our mouths and this provided a very good alternative. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: georgia;">- <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0qr9ObVeJ7hL0SXK-rR31Q">Podcast Francais facile</a> -another great tool especially for pronunciation - this time all in French </span></div><div><span style="font-family: georgia;">- <a href="https://www.youtube.com/c/Atelierdufran%C3%A7ais">Atelier du Français</a> - I like that they put everything in context- you can use their text and transcripts for listening practice and then have the students reflect and listen to the explanation in their own time. </span></div><h3 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">3. Youtube for PD</span></h3><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">Have you attended PD through Zoom this year or the past year?</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjv-ZIquhZ-iL0HAt54vQZYbV8lwPGY2Qnml0Fd5zGEFTmJoMlSgTs_8oV4uwMewdydoQ_8Dpitj9sv8DmSWjz2pp2bWn53vIJUE8EpP9LPgO9Osp3-1294zLNb8t--VkwqByWl9rDO1Cg6Bi9R9qVIg3QkZxxp56-PZ2b417fl_TKIkGJYS-SwR9xpdg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><img alt="" data-original-height="398" data-original-width="398" height="103" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjv-ZIquhZ-iL0HAt54vQZYbV8lwPGY2Qnml0Fd5zGEFTmJoMlSgTs_8oV4uwMewdydoQ_8Dpitj9sv8DmSWjz2pp2bWn53vIJUE8EpP9LPgO9Osp3-1294zLNb8t--VkwqByWl9rDO1Cg6Bi9R9qVIg3QkZxxp56-PZ2b417fl_TKIkGJYS-SwR9xpdg=w103-h103" width="103" /></span></a><span style="font-family: georgia;"><br /></span></p></div><span style="font-family: georgia;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family: georgia;"><br /></span><p></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> It is quite possible that you have had to do this. Have you done YouTube searches for what you need to progress and grow inyour teaching life?</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">At home, we basically have given up on cable and we have YouTube on the Tv and we use it all the time. I get inspiration for cooking, dog grooming, traveling, and fitness and we youtube a ton before we buy anything for the house, for instance. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">But for school it is about the same. During the pandemic I wanted to try Genially, I used Youtube to teach myself. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">This summer - we are transitioning to Schoology. I used Youtube to familiarize myself with the look and how to use the platform, I looked up 10 tips for Schoology and ended up understanding a lot about the platform very quickly. I also figured that the way it looks "as-is" would not do it for me and my students, </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">So I looked up how to 'juj it up' and now my course look so much more Middle School friendly. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhcf5LfJfKdNJmT9su8wIPkUFiBGrhf-a4NbLi5THc5RE1KEnlBqGlbMqU8L-5kiWQR9UPG-koSLKa4Jx5aU9JUSogStDxb02CxzEaY3uCY9q5fdWhMGQwYDtUdtaKLGez28iR0QdYmelGcrcSNVynZRzNQA7-PoOy68KommVIHyn3XkkhcRWtDtTxi3g" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><img alt="" data-original-height="398" data-original-width="398" height="133" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhcf5LfJfKdNJmT9su8wIPkUFiBGrhf-a4NbLi5THc5RE1KEnlBqGlbMqU8L-5kiWQR9UPG-koSLKa4Jx5aU9JUSogStDxb02CxzEaY3uCY9q5fdWhMGQwYDtUdtaKLGez28iR0QdYmelGcrcSNVynZRzNQA7-PoOy68KommVIHyn3XkkhcRWtDtTxi3g=w133-h133" width="133" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: georgia;">I often look up tips and hacks on Youtube. Sure sometimes I can also be going down a dangerous rabbit hole of videos so tbh I do this at the end of the day when I have to leave at a certain time to not miss my train <br /></span><p></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">Some CI teachers have channels and are worth looking into if that is what you are looking for. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">I know for most I have stated the obvious in this post but I feel there. has been a real shift in how people have been using youtube in the classroom and we shouldn't be ashamed of it. It is enriching our students's lives and honestly what else would we do on a rainy lunch day if we didn't have access to clean <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3402DZvbVU&ab_channel=BoomieDCI">Just Dance </a>!</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">I will have a couple more posts coming up this summer. Stay tuned!</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p><p></p><p></p><div><br /></div><p></p>froggy660http://www.blogger.com/profile/05631383825961948924noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3809979308143240450.post-57830244418230953382020-12-26T14:46:00.010-08:002020-12-26T14:46:59.167-08:00End of the year post... It's winter break!!! Ouf... (French for Phew) we made it! a post about how to adapt... and free materials<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUZMJbyACHI-8BKBFFWjOEF_LkcrgKdW3iYmcwo02U3kcDJVi8MgQqxpq42eOWmRhJ5ifStKMEzdLav3oy10NdozSFpXCrfqgw62oz7sy3_uU5Ros6xVWUP9Rn602jnwb_0IHwwb02H-z2/" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="398" data-original-width="396" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUZMJbyACHI-8BKBFFWjOEF_LkcrgKdW3iYmcwo02U3kcDJVi8MgQqxpq42eOWmRhJ5ifStKMEzdLav3oy10NdozSFpXCrfqgw62oz7sy3_uU5Ros6xVWUP9Rn602jnwb_0IHwwb02H-z2/" width="239" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">So... school ended and Christmas is done, and finally, we, teachers have a little time to reflect on what just happened... between September and this hiatus between Christmas and New Year. </span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">It is a strange year we are having, and after the chaos of getting to grips with online teaching in last year's Spring term, my school worked hard to allow us to stay, all but one day, in person. That one day was to give us enough time to get our post-Thanksgiving Covid test results. I am very fortunate that I work at a school that has the means and the willingness to keep us safe; that the kids comply with the Covid measures and that my teachers-colleagues understand the importance of being there for each other not just 'there' but also mindfully there. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">That said... All this time in school and with the kids has made it more difficult to create new resources time is pretty tight between helping colleagues with coverage and co-teaching (with a zoom only teacher) which is new and so rewarding, but oh so time-consuming, there is only time to get creative on one level for me this year...</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">Enter ...GENIALLY</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">If you read the posts from the start of this blog, you will see that a lot of the material that I had created pre -Covid were handheld, printed sometimes even laminated ( luxurious, I know). Now I don't want kids to share anything... we work hard enough to have 6 ft between all of them and all that. So what can I do? This summer I started researching, ( big fan of YouTubing stuff here, and for genially it was great I could do some Spanish listening and at the same time get tech PD), I joined a group for WL teachers tech on Facebook and some teachers were posting these really cool games and I felt maybe that would be the way to go and to adapt some of my favorites online. It takes time to create engaging materials as it is, and to adapt them online also, but here are some examples of what genially offered me to keep students, socially distant and either work independently on multi-activity boards or to work as a group and play a board game together and recreate the group closeness a board game would foster.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">1. The Interactive picture. My <b>Spanish</b> students learnt about dia de los muertos by clicking on the various objects- You can animate and add other objects to a picture and add links to several pages with different activities. In this activity students were tablet o work on listening, reading, and vocabulary in an independent lesson that still worked for students who were working remotely. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;"><a href="https://view.genial.ly/5f903299b39bc70d6234177e/presentation-dia-de-muertos-comida">Dia de los Muertos</a><br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibyiKDW0T235MOSaSCSjrpGIRlpfoSGnUoMfVjJ9JdwFTdFzgvTWccnDB8WIwB5oxEo0v8wm4Yzr3vYwoD4oUZbC7ZznFZAvuK9R2idCs5ufLmuGZKmfahuadWiDNcwXad_0fxnbm3O7l7/s1770/Screen+Shot+2020-12-26+at+5.19.24+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1176" data-original-width="1770" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibyiKDW0T235MOSaSCSjrpGIRlpfoSGnUoMfVjJ9JdwFTdFzgvTWccnDB8WIwB5oxEo0v8wm4Yzr3vYwoD4oUZbC7ZznFZAvuK9R2idCs5ufLmuGZKmfahuadWiDNcwXad_0fxnbm3O7l7/s320/Screen+Shot+2020-12-26+at+5.19.24+PM.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">2. Board games </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">Full disclosure you need the premium version to do those but here is the trick if you simply google search Genially + whatever board gave you are looking for on grammar, for example, there is a good chance you will find something that works for you or at least some inspiration. This game on the template Jumanlly is about stem-changing verb sin <b>Spanish</b>. The class got divided into 4 groups and the kids got really excited playing this on the smartboard. I think with a bigger room, those who have a good set up can probably have the kids playing on one computer amongst 4 students and play the game that way too. <a href="https://view.genial.ly/5f981ecb024aed0d045f261e/game-stem-changing-verbs">Jumanlly Stem changing verbs</a></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;"><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZTR-xXL2t5YavJKstOz4tg1TaHqbI0VvhCu3jFb4XJ_cMSqg4UXT4VayOAcODzrATQOvgf9cu_kEaG9_ELwE6Dn9a4VnAdgN7krAkLEnZbl84lRNvpluHkOeIhCHx7obprB7Yp-5RHCSs/s502/Screen+Shot+2020-12-26+at+5.27.43+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="342" data-original-width="502" height="203" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZTR-xXL2t5YavJKstOz4tg1TaHqbI0VvhCu3jFb4XJ_cMSqg4UXT4VayOAcODzrATQOvgf9cu_kEaG9_ELwE6Dn9a4VnAdgN7krAkLEnZbl84lRNvpluHkOeIhCHx7obprB7Yp-5RHCSs/w298-h203/Screen+Shot+2020-12-26+at+5.27.43+PM.png" width="298" /></a></span></div><p></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">4. Break out rooms. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">While I will be totally honest and I am not the most creative with those. Genially has great ready-made templates and I have also found some great teacher made templates that can be reused ( yes there is such a thing as creating a copy and editing it as you own. Of course, always credit the people who created the template!)</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs3ikKkFfwo5-NCATzlt_4DfsInz5lO9a251IRGC9d9bwwwTn6QU9R50qzcAvbjcG8oTfRTB8s74AUvQzgH-wUDtPXJEqEQFJJbuJWFLsSix4b-1H-a9aYjHX8VGkxUYu8C8_yisxmEk7U/s512/Screen+Shot+2020-12-26+at+5.41.11+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="344" data-original-width="512" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs3ikKkFfwo5-NCATzlt_4DfsInz5lO9a251IRGC9d9bwwwTn6QU9R50qzcAvbjcG8oTfRTB8s74AUvQzgH-wUDtPXJEqEQFJJbuJWFLsSix4b-1H-a9aYjHX8VGkxUYu8C8_yisxmEk7U/s320/Screen+Shot+2020-12-26+at+5.41.11+PM.png" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><p><span style="font-family: Patrick Hand;">So here is a link to my <a href="https://view.genial.ly/5f91b5d837d1b90d1554f5cd/game-breakout-les-saisons">Halloween themes Season, </a>months, and dates topic related breakout. I am not sure about your schools but here, we are not quite ready with a plan for Fall and understandably it is hard to tell what the situation will be in September so, we continue on the Distance Learning series and the top 3 resources I planned my lessons around during the Spring term.</font></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><font face="georgia">At # 3: Lingt.com. I must have posted about Lingt before, if not here on my IG @laclassedemademoisele. Lingt is free, if you have small classes, you need to pay to have a larger amount of student accounts. I use the free version and delete some content as I go along. The students get URL a bit like Edpuzzle or Flipgrid and that is all you need to tell them apart from the class name.</font></div></div><div><font face="georgia">On your end it is very easy to create content, you can record yourself and have then repeat, like atailored language lab, you can write and they can write also, I am attaching two examples of tasks I created by adding text, then pictures, and asking the kids either to write or to speak and often both. I then log in to the system and I can see the kids work and give them feedback so long as they provide an email address.</font></div><div><font face="georgia"><img border="0" data-original-height="1430" data-original-width="1230" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLXHxqoOl32Lqke6FUTmDfqtYrkV4Y35a-ax2AI2vDIJZBG9IQkh_1VHmk46bXTOErcA1EhIGkWzaATOKAVKmf_1TYQyTprCgn1LhmKyZv3atPhp709TISz9ZkM4b70ybWOy8EHB7SOkes/w172-h200/Screen+Shot+2020-06-07+at+4.12.54+PM.png" width="172" /><img border="0" data-original-height="1542" data-original-width="1342" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBEUvJd9ENZ5pGaI86EbpJ-HPSYkeG8q0J57b29pnC52FMPSVbkW1e4cQEOHDmkvg1eOi5IihvpN5X9P5RcIw_GFREMwJOjAqzyzmQ3eVnO4T9wV7KRAwVLUC0GxGT1Zqi_j_ZYmO0OCaY/w174-h200/Screen+Shot+2020-06-07+at+4.11.51+PM.png" width="174" /></font></div><div><font face="georgia">At #2 Learning Apps. www.learningapps.org </font></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqky5LqWl36JsA7o79bDmyCq94GV0wOyhLzWdMQdFOYlOFqxM6AdWWuJ6fQFc2OARMHPifrmcwRkFcgFM6ic8M6eQJtuvMseJ8DiZOmpIpmD_ipuIFcSn1CIKpMX6mbYytWgjK94_XgPNA/s2046/Screen+Shot+2020-06-07+at+4.25.37+PM.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><font face="georgia"><img border="0" data-original-height="1290" data-original-width="2046" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqky5LqWl36JsA7o79bDmyCq94GV0wOyhLzWdMQdFOYlOFqxM6AdWWuJ6fQFc2OARMHPifrmcwRkFcgFM6ic8M6eQJtuvMseJ8DiZOmpIpmD_ipuIFcSn1CIKpMX6mbYytWgjK94_XgPNA/s320/Screen+Shot+2020-06-07+at+4.25.37+PM.png" width="320" /></font></a></div><div><font face="georgia">This website allows you to create a variety of games for grammar or vocabulary, there is also a search engine and for example, on one day my kids played a game on routines that I created and loved it so much I told them to look up Rutina in the search engine and they found a bunch more tasks to do.</font></div><div><font face="georgia">You can record yourself as well which allows you to create listening games in any language. The folder system allows you to organize your resources and you can embed the links to your made games in your website or online platform. <span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Today I will tell you about how I use <a href="http://edpuzzle.com/" target="_blank">Edpuzzle</a> and <a href="http://quizizz.com/" target="_blank">Quizizz</a>.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">First a bit of background info, before Distance Learning -I shall call it DL after this- I never used Edpuzzle, I now do maybe on a bi-weekly basis.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Now, I have been using it for all levels 5th, 6th and 7th grade.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I used to present the vocab and get the kids going with songs and short videos in my classes, so after a quick search in the Youtube content, I found those videos already edited by other teachers. It is worth checking that the questions meet your kids' needs, and you can save and edit questions add more, delete or change the MCQ.</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Edpuzzle</span></td></tr>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">For the 6th grade, I mainly include the videos for reinforcement of what has been said in class or pre-teaching (flip class) or even for listening skills. </span><br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF7Is5K2dOyWCohmdTSL1JVLrZwok2zTUXPUYZ9DEZIYrxaXMeje5lD_SJISDETpid_Wf-yah9s5_krBogvdqnnp8zKPYPMh0TsoerxjflEzoxrAt-ahD3-_AI4V0CwfbVHYtCZAAi3-hy/s1600/Screen+Shot+2020-04-27+at+10.24.39+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1083" data-original-width="1600" height="216" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF7Is5K2dOyWCohmdTSL1JVLrZwok2zTUXPUYZ9DEZIYrxaXMeje5lD_SJISDETpid_Wf-yah9s5_krBogvdqnnp8zKPYPMh0TsoerxjflEzoxrAt-ahD3-_AI4V0CwfbVHYtCZAAi3-hy/s320/Screen+Shot+2020-04-27+at+10.24.39+AM.png" width="320" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Quizizz</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">For the 7th grade, I found some supplementing material for students to work on celebrations and also so explanatory videos on grammar topics that we may not have had time to go over in-depth during the class. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I use Edpuzzzle for homework since we have 35 mn slots with our classes and I am lucky enough to have maximum of 16 students in my classes I try to continue teaching the way we used to in class. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Quizizz on the other hand, I have been using way before DL. It is my 'Kahoot', I liked the old version I like the new version the kids like the new redemption questions and glitch bonuses etc.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">All levels play with Quizizz, I have used premade ones, I have saved and edited ones and I have made my own ones too. It is very versatile and when you think your classes are lacking the umph then go fo a Quizizz and the quiz with brighten right up.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">How often to I do Quizizz, with the 7th grade I have done it once a week during DL and with the 6th grade when needed. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I like how we can go over the questions at the end, I tend to do this more with 6 and 7th grade than with the 5th grade. I do like how it gives the kids a temperature check on how they are doing, I need to play with the new gap-fill features to stretch the ability of the kids. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It feels it really only tests them on reading and vocabulary or grammar mechanics if you only use the multiple choice options.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">More to come this week or next the top 3 DL online resources.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Long-time no see I know, I am sorry this is taking so long.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Instagram posts are just so snappy and easy that this blog is not getting as much feed. If you want to stay updated more often make sure you either check into my Pinterest blog page</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> <a href="https://www.pinterest.ru/bouyssie/blog-laclassedemademoisele/" target="_blank">Blog Laclassedemademoisele</a> or my Instagram @laclassedemademoisele where you will see more posts and ideas that may not appear here.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Now, my November was full of professional development. It so happens that both took place in the same time frame. First, if you have not yet understood, I am hooked on the professional development offered by <a href="https://eleinternacional.com/" target="_blank">ELEInternacional</a> for ELE teachers. The Jornadas offered 5 days of online conferences by some of their best teacher-mentors. I did the free versions and because of the overlap with the ACTFL 19 conference, I only managed 4 days out of the 5. The offering was varied as per usual and some of my favorites bloggers also offered insights on how to modify classic games such as Bingo for example. Ana Gomez is amazing in the way she approaches her teaching a=with emotional learning as well and in the designing creative activity course she gives you a few examples as well. I also discovered <a href="http://jardindeidiomas.com/" target="_blank">Jardin de idioma</a>s, where, Ana Marín Tabuenca explained how to use the software pages to create new activities. <a href="https://birlibirprofe.com/sobre-mi/" target="_blank">Enara Villán</a> offered a thorough insight into how to use music in the classroom in 20 creative ways. This got me thinking and I was able to create my own bingo sheets and Clue game for my French classes.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Remember my focus this year is to develop my new French 6th-grade curriculum. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I did all that while on the train to Washington and headed to ACTFL 2019. I will be honest and will say that I Have a hard time totally adhering to ACFL's approach. It is possibly because I was trained in Europe in two various systems, the English GCSE/ A LEVEL and the CEFR European model which was the one we looked at during my FLE Masters. So my teaching approach is a mix of what works best for the kids. My goal this year was to come to ACTFL ready to learn more about Comprehensible input, group work and authentic material use in the classroom. I enjoyed listening to how some teachers 'do it' I still have a hard time seeing myself completely buying into that. Why you ask?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">because of the pace. I do do a lot of repetition, there is no problem with that but the fact that what I saw looked very teacher-focused and not so much student-centered is making me skeptical. So I have started implementing more ways to use only TL, but I am not ready to move to TPRS yet and I want to continue seeing my kids having fun and speaking a lot in the class and understanding the grammar, yes, the grammar as I don't think you can have solid students without explaining grammar as you go along. I am in awe of the teachers who are successful such as <a href="https://lamaestralocablog.com/" target="_blank">La maestra loca</a> and I will be using many of her ideas and I also was very interested in <a href="https://comprehensibleclassroom.com/" target="_blank">Martina Bex</a>'s talk on Planning for proficiency who took time during her presentation to show us how it is done.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I added links to all these great teacher's pages so check them out if you don't know them yet!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Below I am adding some pictures of what I have created pre- and post conferences a little catch up :)</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This year has been very full already. My schedule is packed and with more classes at different levels I have more level meetings. I do love this system, we have an incredible knowledge of our kids. The only downside is that I have not been able to post as much, let alone creating.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Finally, this week I have been able to create new resources.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This year, posts will be mainly oriented on French 6th grade since that is my new course, and I am creating a new curriculum for it.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">My first unit so far has included greetings, introductions, and a short unit on objects of the classroom to start grasping the concept of singular, plural, masculine, and feminine.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I am learning so much, and I am so grateful my two classes are made of an incredible bunch of kids.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">My smartboard has also had a lot of issues, and they have displayed a fantastic level of patience.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So this week and the fact that we started doing more concrete vocabulary, I was able to create a few new resources.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV6WuAhtKkrD18GfEDl_LiJOG0wbIyTHkPaPIveTDgzOrY72pL3fg_jHXyElRqJLy4aN9B1wqDosWV6eYAVkdfxMGr8g-pPR-JfUyM_8eesXctR90gHAIX0sHmQ5EGIJhvhBZw0Lw6QUFB/s1600/0D0C8917-064C-4ABF-83EC-14F3FFF4AE1B.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV6WuAhtKkrD18GfEDl_LiJOG0wbIyTHkPaPIveTDgzOrY72pL3fg_jHXyElRqJLy4aN9B1wqDosWV6eYAVkdfxMGr8g-pPR-JfUyM_8eesXctR90gHAIX0sHmQ5EGIJhvhBZw0Lw6QUFB/s200/0D0C8917-064C-4ABF-83EC-14F3FFF4AE1B.jpg" width="200" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The first one was actually pretty quick to create and is a backpack with 4 items. Students are paired up and must ask the question, 'do you have a ...?' to find out if their friends have various items pictured on their list.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The only vocabulary they have is the question.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmQ3j5qOSwgjUuWwuf_J4ZMIp1g5sfl08J9xsZeNTdiE-TATgPZxbTd16ws2iLB4FOog7NT11AkLw1SSd8IgLQyaunV01uT6ZOXd0-pdYopN_zEu0nSnU6j7nrhWoQxRRcnutOKoxeQA11/s1600/IMG_1243.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmQ3j5qOSwgjUuWwuf_J4ZMIp1g5sfl08J9xsZeNTdiE-TATgPZxbTd16ws2iLB4FOog7NT11AkLw1SSd8IgLQyaunV01uT6ZOXd0-pdYopN_zEu0nSnU6j7nrhWoQxRRcnutOKoxeQA11/s200/IMG_1243.jpg" width="200" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">To cater to students with various levels of handwriting and processing speed. I created an interactive vocabulary sheet where students have to cut and paste the vocabulary to the picture but also write the correct definite article.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> After many years, teaching at the next level, I realize that my students in the 6th grade will need about 3 lessons to process the new vocabulary in various ways to 'anchor' it. So I created a tic tac toe game which will allow students to review the vocabulary but also to add the numbers 1-60 in the process. And since I was already in the template I decided to create one for my 7th grade Spanish class about breakfast foods.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2vwQcq6J1cv2xpdHW96ZbEAqrpO30YfsMZeUk34ddAeD0E3PcIt1yKDeNAG9-38hZK1S4qZcBsnPHPYPhHzmrZijMxSnL7WTywB926r_pW8vKZrq_9e32KINXFBZfzqELEqeYqH7fFALb/s1600/4E5104B5-87FD-4B92-897F-E5EBCE2A3763.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2vwQcq6J1cv2xpdHW96ZbEAqrpO30YfsMZeUk34ddAeD0E3PcIt1yKDeNAG9-38hZK1S4qZcBsnPHPYPhHzmrZijMxSnL7WTywB926r_pW8vKZrq_9e32KINXFBZfzqELEqeYqH7fFALb/s640/4E5104B5-87FD-4B92-897F-E5EBCE2A3763.jpg" width="640" /></a></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This last picture only shows a little bit of the fortune-tellers my students created to practice salutations and instructions. I hope to use this creative review game in future units at the end of the chapter since they can ask each other questions about anything. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN3Kc9rW3fLdKSR9Bc6ksBxTa-PnIIjBPIxND-6wNBR9dspsLqd-TnxgiN1Mk9CvNVsNv_ZVd8kaLjxwNGhp99qABlK0Rahiq935rYqYY0hzaEh2jq0kqtb8HojM-MYFG1wo4a3kBqT9S6/s1600/IMG_0021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN3Kc9rW3fLdKSR9Bc6ksBxTa-PnIIjBPIxND-6wNBR9dspsLqd-TnxgiN1Mk9CvNVsNv_ZVd8kaLjxwNGhp99qABlK0Rahiq935rYqYY0hzaEh2jq0kqtb8HojM-MYFG1wo4a3kBqT9S6/s320/IMG_0021.jpg" width="240" /></a></span></div>

Just back from a hike with the pup so he is now happily sleeping under the desk. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So as I create my French 5 materials this is what I have created this week, still using the powerpoint skills I learned with the ELEinternacional course.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/French-activity-dates-and-colors-mois-nombres-saisons-couleurs-4655381" target="_blank">Cherche et répond</a>: this task to us adults looks fairly easy : 12 words, letters jumbled up in a circle, kids can figure out what the words are, add a question like how many, which and it goes to another level. Great for review of several topics at once, here you have seasons, numbers, colors, and months. <b>(This is a French adaptation of a game seen on the ELE Internacional blog.)</b> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I also created two <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/French-conversation-cut-and-reorganize-Salutations-et-anniversaire-1-4648354" target="_blank">conversations</a> for my 5th and 6th grade classes in French. I will make enough sets for two to share and cut them up and laminate so they can put the conversation back in order. Again I used what I learned in the course and created <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/French-Conversation-cut-up-and-reorganize-School-4648368" target="_blank">tables</a> to make those. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Finally and if you saw my stories on IG, I was asking colleagues if I should make dominoes or a memory match-up game. It turns out if you make dominoes and cut them in half you can make a match up game!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">here they are the- j'ai qui a- on months and the dominos on time which I think have come out great in terms of color palette (flamingo for the time, grapefruit for the months)!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Again using tables, Flaticon and two typographies no more!!</span><br />
Here is a <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Domino-French-2-pack-months-seasons-and-time-4665200" target="_blank">link</a> to the pack of two!<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Can you believe I am one resource short of 120 resources on TPT! I know most of us are on vacation at this point and not necessarily thinking of what is to come. I have 4 lessons left to work on for the French 5 course and I will also be studying a movie for them to work with Ratatouille or A monster in Paris.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Keep checking the blog for new entries, they may come far a few but maybe packed with new ideas for you to try and create your own materials with PPT or Canva!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">If you have any questions get in touch through Pinterest or Instargram or here!!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I have just finished the new course that <a href="https://eleinternacional.com/" target="_blank">ELEInternacional</a> offers on designing materials with Powerpoint and so with this comes new resources and some new ideas.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This past two weeks, I have learned all about designing essentially what I was able to do with <a href="https://www.canva.com/" target="_blank">Canva</a> without the need to be online.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The result of both courses put together, learning about typographies and color matching etc has paid off and with new courses to design for 5th and 6th grade in French, it has gotten me started on some new resources that I will surely use next year.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1w-G52SHEggWFB0cREBszC9FtiCBgOBnJSWjkwD9b5u3Ws86nk0Zw4-0e1ljK_Qzw-Ahdqenu2-NOvKkvwKz8IjYA9ajjqS43ldRrh59TJ3VRF4yvVoGYiUTH48w5N7MTKeHNz9VEOzmL/s1600/IMG_0478.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1w-G52SHEggWFB0cREBszC9FtiCBgOBnJSWjkwD9b5u3Ws86nk0Zw4-0e1ljK_Qzw-Ahdqenu2-NOvKkvwKz8IjYA9ajjqS43ldRrh59TJ3VRF4yvVoGYiUTH48w5N7MTKeHNz9VEOzmL/s200/IMG_0478.JPG" width="200" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The first thing was designing a weekly planner. I am a big fan of planning and if you are a beginner teacher, I can not stress the impact of planning on having successful classes. So instead of drooling over other TPT teacher author planners, I designed my own and some stationery to go with it for the folders I use for each class.</span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoHIVMB4qYW_8uIKAzWh8r9VsVLkU_k9iWAfGgcgcKZla6xFe2phUwyy3nLxQNTeoiRxV0j_ZSldKF03Q3oDrPqxUJ-I4ck5kfjcrhbEUNV69g-h7cAHX-oIKKnDah7eXjDxGRLPJwVfEk/s1600/IMG_0479.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoHIVMB4qYW_8uIKAzWh8r9VsVLkU_k9iWAfGgcgcKZla6xFe2phUwyy3nLxQNTeoiRxV0j_ZSldKF03Q3oDrPqxUJ-I4ck5kfjcrhbEUNV69g-h7cAHX-oIKKnDah7eXjDxGRLPJwVfEk/s200/IMG_0479.JPG" width="200" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I need to get my schedule to be able to fully finish the product but I like the cactus themes so I went with it and here is how it looks to start with. I used a watercolor background from <a href="https://www.freepik.com/" target="_blank">Freepik</a> for the cover and the rest I designed following the steps taught by Laura Caldas (@eltarrodeidiomas)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWCrPjlZLcGwcETJYwo2WOPNozUC4gw-B5DfzLaGrAbfuF1KNcPdB6NQRXLjIn8Lg-4DccRnYEF_8W0jDstq0xJB4Pd5ieYMj7irb9dxZeUMuF9tgfybX9XfOYE_J9lakOr0J1DuZn8ROD/s1600/IMG_0477.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWCrPjlZLcGwcETJYwo2WOPNozUC4gw-B5DfzLaGrAbfuF1KNcPdB6NQRXLjIn8Lg-4DccRnYEF_8W0jDstq0xJB4Pd5ieYMj7irb9dxZeUMuF9tgfybX9XfOYE_J9lakOr0J1DuZn8ROD/s200/IMG_0477.JPG" width="200" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> The next activity was to design a boardgame. Nothing new here. But I needed some new material for my 5th grade French class so ...PERFECT! I found hippie icons in <a href="https://www.flaticon.com/home" target="_blank">Flaticon</a> to design this one and rest is just following the tutorial again.</span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLp_90Zbv878NQCYFKv3a6CcwaMbCgt5DLBGK5wYNoQjM1o7kgjFjq9oNK9_brXX6G_ssqvqttXmER1h1fXJGVKLl7KxPxP0MwrRhMGut8NGFChm3yEv8eNp0qexZ4ui4rhm1pGLfScaqg/s1600/58222344162__4CF3786F-4BA1-4984-8FDD-0FF499440B38.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLp_90Zbv878NQCYFKv3a6CcwaMbCgt5DLBGK5wYNoQjM1o7kgjFjq9oNK9_brXX6G_ssqvqttXmER1h1fXJGVKLl7KxPxP0MwrRhMGut8NGFChm3yEv8eNp0qexZ4ui4rhm1pGLfScaqg/s200/58222344162__4CF3786F-4BA1-4984-8FDD-0FF499440B38.JPG" width="200" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I had to design a set of cards so I designed the cards that go with the game and it is now available on my Tpt store <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/French-Boardgame-Numbers-1-31-dates-and-time-4634659#show-price-update" target="_blank">here</a>. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> Finally, the last task was to make little medals or token of good work for your class that you can use as rewards. I decided to base my token on a system so that my kids in the 6th grade can keep track of their progress. I selected 5 skills that are basic but essential for them to have secured by the end of the year and as they go through the course, they get the token.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="clear: left; float: left; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></span><span style="clear: left; float: left; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">So here is what I have been up to this first week of vacation. I am taking a break from planning ( maybe) as I am putting my tourist cap back on at the end of the week. </span><span style="clear: left; float: left; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Wishing all the followers a great summer break full of creativity and relaxing times!</span><span style="clear: left; float: left; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Tomorrow is our last day with the kids. Another year ends and with it many changes to come.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">So how was this year... Fun, for the most part, creating resources for my three classes, 5th grade Spanish, 7th grade French, 7th grade Spanish. I took kids to Québec with a set of new chaperones. I continued with community service and with the yearbook elective.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It has been a busy year and some things are about to change.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> Next year, it looks like I will be switching from Spanish 5 to French 5. I am going to adapt the Spanish program to French and have already started pinning like crazy on Pinterest ( follow me if you are not yet!)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> I am also changing from French 7 to French 6 and this is also very exciting, I have not yet taught 6th grade but I have taught 95 % of the kids who chose it! I have to say that will make things a little easier at the start of the year. They had 3 months of French and did a unit on town in the 5th grade, we will start right back to basics, but I might need some guidance so watch for those Instagram stories!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> We are also switching to a new platform, ditching Bien Dit/ Expresate for Descubre and D'accord. I would love to hear your thoughts on that. We are not per se using every page as you can see here we make most of our resources based on the vocabulary from the book and will use the platform to assign homework and have them do more listenings and review for assessments.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">This week, I tried a new thing. I don't think it as best as it could have...It was my first attempt to a breakout activity. I have designed the four puzzles to do in 60 min; the ideas are good, the kids managed most of the tasks and understood what they had to do quickly. The gap between what I thought they would manage and what they did manage was the issue I think on one particular task. I have to mention that I allowed the student the use of the dictionary to support them. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho7RaNEWGs5Mfsns9kiAKnVprSnrJKkortuEmynl-f6R81Kr2MSyylJWaOnKKbOuosCrWWyKYhoF7a87rcUOUK9iSyUubWfHCkSsl4MtfdCm3qTI-HXpIACbVJtejgIuAW4BtpPFKrHc4V/s1600/fullsizeoutput_1787.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho7RaNEWGs5Mfsns9kiAKnVprSnrJKkortuEmynl-f6R81Kr2MSyylJWaOnKKbOuosCrWWyKYhoF7a87rcUOUK9iSyUubWfHCkSsl4MtfdCm3qTI-HXpIACbVJtejgIuAW4BtpPFKrHc4V/s320/fullsizeoutput_1787.jpeg" width="240" /></a><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The first task was a paragraph to put back together, each paragraph has a different color and the code element for the breakout is the 6th paragraph color. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Theoretically a pretty good puzzle, but here is the catch I wrote the text a while ago which what the kids would have covered in mind and yet, they still had difficulty figuring the order of the text because I think it was too long. Also when one of the kids tried to use purple on the padlock... it wasn't here! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">So here is the reflection I'm still thinking the long reading is certainly an exercise I want them to do but I will give them a little bit more guidance, including that the 6th paragraph is not purple and that they it would be most logical to start with the part in the present tense. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The second task went very well with the kids who knew their vocabulary. It is a version of la palabra oculta and they have a series of code cracking to do :</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">1. find the word for the picture all </span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> these combined will reveal a word we studied in the unit</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">2. they have to find a certain letter from each word, these combine make the code breaking word and the 3 rd letter is the letter to use in the padlock.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I think this went well for two reasons. My kids are used to working with visual cues, this was broken into smaller peces so more manageable as a group too. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5QpTVNsTEnIF7xLMSJbnu9Vcf4csOWtMdkD0GPmppZtbuEwrviiqNHm9ZFXry5pqSQZ7hk00kucvssklV7FDOIvRh79rp473ZtnTpbOaotZwhA3tiX8p1PTglxRh4lN-jr0mEN5N-tBah/s1600/Screen+Shot+2019-05-05+at+12.24.36+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="394" data-original-width="306" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5QpTVNsTEnIF7xLMSJbnu9Vcf4csOWtMdkD0GPmppZtbuEwrviiqNHm9ZFXry5pqSQZ7hk00kucvssklV7FDOIvRh79rp473ZtnTpbOaotZwhA3tiX8p1PTglxRh4lN-jr0mEN5N-tBah/s320/Screen+Shot+2019-05-05+at+12.24.36+PM.png" width="248" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The third task worked well too it was a crossword puzzled designed to be done on the computer ( www. languageapps.org) and again the clues I used were things we had worked on , either vocabulary or conjugations from this chapter. The clues were in Spanish and the kids needed very little help on that one. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It was of course a very different version. they have had puzzles before this one is a nonagon ,9 sided shape, and the work they had to do was to match a verb and the tense with the conjugated form that corresponded. The only hard pieces on this one were the fue, which could be either ser or ir, and the nosotros -ar and -ir verbs which could be either present or preterit. To me it is important that the kids have something to think about when they are doing these puzzles. The pieces have various colors and the final clue is a certain piece's color. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Out of the 6 groups I had working on the tasks as they were, one finished 10 mn before the 60 mn was up and had three trials and broke the code. another two groups came very close to finishing the tasks. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Second time around with a different class, smaller in size so students worked in pairs this time, much better, the kids were really into it and the code was found and the candy was had. Also it was clear that these students paid more attention to the puzzle as they noticed that two verbs were repeated, so they are now all different and I am going to take a break form puzzle making!!<br /></span><br />

French boardgame on daily routine=<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Two weeks ago my students tried this new game. I was, as usual, very exited to see how they would like it and they did like it, I only had a 15 mn so they did not get too far but groups of three worked well for this purpose. I have not played KABOOM with them so this OP game, a board game version of it made working with reflexive verbs a little more interesting. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Here is the TPT link if you are interested.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">First of all the inspiration.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I have been using the B<a href="http://www.spanishprograms.com/spanish_teacher/learning_module/games.php" target="_blank">urrito builder</a> for years, but recently I've had increasing difficulty having the kids play it, between the ads and the Flashplayer updates, it's never ending.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I play board games, sometimes, at our friends house, and once we played this sushi building game.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So here I go creating a new game mixing it all up.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In Spanish la Taqueria, in French La maison du Croque-Monsieur,.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I used Canva of course and Flaticon to create the boards.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I just google taco and France color palettes and these came out great ( I think)</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">These have been created with present tense in mind and I think as I go along I will create new card packs for other tenses. </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">How to play: Students are given one card of each color to start with and will pick one extra as they start the game, then roll the dice, they land on a box and take the action on the box :</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">- take a blue card ( for example) they will take the card form the blue card pile</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">- take a yellow card from your neighbor to the right ( for example)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">- Bonus! take an extra card</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">- take a green card and pass in one to the neighbor to the left. (for example)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">At the end of the game the students have to put the ingredients together to make grammatically accurate combinations and they may use each card only once.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So for example they could have a 1 pt card with yo or je +a two point card with com- or habill+ a one point card with -o/-e result: Yo como/ je habille for 4 points altogether.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">My kids cover stem and accent change verbs in Spanish and French and reflexives so they are featured in the game.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The super dooper combination would be je m'habille which would give 1+2+1+4= 8 pts...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It's not super complicated and I think it would make for a fun review game at the end of the year. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I sure will be using it!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The 5th grade in my school rotates between three languages over the course of the year. I am about to start the third rotation and as this is my first year teaching fifth grade there is a lot of reflection going on. The first rotation did not get the movie study they did learn about the colors, animals and emotions though, so content wise, classes will have similar prior knowledge when they go to 6th grade if they choose Spanish. </span><br />

I also though I would continue studying the movie including emotions. The material I created for the class was based on screenshots while I watched the movie, the kids still enjoyed watching and writing captions for the screenshots of the various emotions the characters felt. The kids did great and are impressed me with their use of the adjective endings as well. The third topic we looked at was colors in the Alebrijes and the various animals that make up some of the Alebrijes that can be identified in some scenes. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> There are so many other topics than could be studied at that level with this fantastic movie. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Are there any other movies that you use in your classroom that have inspired you to make resources?</span><br />

If you create an account ( free ) you get to download some of the their pictures for free. You have a link to give the author recognition if you sell your resources.<br />
I needed groups of pictures ( they call it vectors in the design industry) and also scenes.<br />
As you can see in the examples here it is pretty useful for worksheets reading materials based on pictures. ( see left on clothing and bottom left of the cluster picture on house)<br />
Again if we focus on the TL at beginner level it is pretty useful!<br />
I also use Freepik scenes and vectors for presentations.<br />
It was time I gave my house unit a revamp, and I really liked the modern and clear look of some of these houses. I was able with the same picture to do a presentation on rooms of the house and prepositions. For chores, I found a vector ( top right) that had most of the vocabulary I was looking for. If you use Prezi this would be great too as I used circle shapes to highlight the chore I am talking about in each slide. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

Once downloaded the picture is essentially yours to have fun with, so the vectors could be cut up into all the various smaller pictures and used for a memory game, a card game or what ever else you want to do!<br />
<br />
Want to see some of these closer?<br />
Check them out in my TPT store.<br />

This time, I want to talk about Coco. I am a HUGE fan of Pixar movies and I sadly did not see Coco until it came out on Netflix, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and how cultural this movie was. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I don't usually teach Day of the dead in my classes because the upper school spends a whole unit on it. That said in this holiday season I thought I am just going to continue my classes as per usual wit the 5th grade. Last night, we had our department gathering and we had conversation around our favorite movies and I just changed my mind. I wanted a movie that ties in with my curriculum. 5th grade is numbers, dates and celebrations, colors, emotions, animals. I can do all that with Coco. </span><br />

In the past two years, students worked on periphrasis and each created a card with a Target Language definition and the corresponding word. We ended up with things like "object you use to get dressed: clothes. ", "it is white and yellow, the baby of a chicken= an egg" After the students have created the cards, I collect them and we play around the world when two students are against each other, the winner moves up against the next person and so on and so forth. The winner is either the person who can go 'around the world or the student with the longest streak.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">For many years I have wanted students to create an Apples to Apples game but that still hasn't happened. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">What we did this week was create a UNO game. If you remember my post on Simon's cat videos, I've actually purchased the card game which has a strong resemblance to Uno. </span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6-Gd-jhuxpuHEsDT3vaw-chidrecjRJc5nYPy47IMPRDH8I1apHipjZS5-487DGt_eJxxFR_nzBgUP-TGIbatxbjXOH8YJDsOZrHyUEaPZNxGco2iQsagAOHf5BcpJRAa446jH6xg_Ih3/s1600/IMG_9748.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6-Gd-jhuxpuHEsDT3vaw-chidrecjRJc5nYPy47IMPRDH8I1apHipjZS5-487DGt_eJxxFR_nzBgUP-TGIbatxbjXOH8YJDsOZrHyUEaPZNxGco2iQsagAOHf5BcpJRAa446jH6xg_Ih3/s320/IMG_9748.JPG" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So with the French class, I planned 11 steps on the board ( in reality more than that) to explain to the kids how to create their cards. Each students made 8 cards on Canva.com. I gave them the format to use and the elements to add, but the font, color and 'Carte méchante' were left up to them. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It only took 20 mn to make, I gave each student a verb , on one card they wrote the infinitive, on 6 other cards the conjugations of the verb and finally a 'méchante carte' ( they had the choice between, miss a turn, pick two cards and play one, pick a card and miss a turn). </span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglwGwAkfb-sC7CwgbooydFAy-ZSqfw7Kcy-osHoTRqplf2cGQzerQ7nR30NDA4q2hbsIAuF6lF4cUVp00k0r6wIv_hsPyEnSmMwDfnAj_hQDN2djlUa9JqManAf3HkT3ojhebfFMUZo6a_/s1600/IMG_9746.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglwGwAkfb-sC7CwgbooydFAy-ZSqfw7Kcy-osHoTRqplf2cGQzerQ7nR30NDA4q2hbsIAuF6lF4cUVp00k0r6wIv_hsPyEnSmMwDfnAj_hQDN2djlUa9JqManAf3HkT3ojhebfFMUZo6a_/s320/IMG_9746.JPG" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We dont have bells, but at the moment the students had to go to lunch I had a set of printed colorful cards to laminate. While doing this I spotted a couple of mistakes. ( granted some verbs were harder than others and we ran out of time for a thorough check). In the afternoon, my science and mandarin teacher colleagues and I sat and gave it a go. How great to see how much it actually requires the kids to think! My science colleague never took French and had not been explained infinitives, irregulars and vowel changes. So many questions but it really showed me that this fun game ( I did not win that game!!) had a real teaching and learning value.;not only in its making but also in its playing and this will be my Spanish "before the winter break" activity to make their own set with nothing more than reflexive verbs!!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> In the past, we used to have final exams at the end of the year, and have the kids do a week review. I would pair up the kids and they would have to create activities themselves to help others review the various topics, ideas that the kids come up with are creative activities that they fit to their level. ( We had Smartboard activities, I spy, a group writing on google doc that ended up is a fiasco).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> I highly recommend getting the kids to create resources, it helps them focus their attention to detail in making the resource and when they play the game they will have not only the reward of playing something they made but also have fun with their learning experience.</span><br />

We have used it with a couple of units now and can see how quickly the students can remember the vocabulary and apply grammar points.<br />
Which unit and grammar can you use this task and make your own?<br />
Well if you take this one with reflexive verbs which vocab and grammar are hand in had, there are various things you can get the kids to play with,<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3BMlxDOHUhdtAAkKxyV-zhgOdcZmZ3TgX3lUVB4AIvAcEiFEfrt2vwJgmeWcY6oEDNmQ7Tg0HcuWZWpFp_1DfV9StxsDZWubE-TJVUBYbnthkBX5eojmVq2EppeDh_ni_7Q4d4ERzNduj/s1600/Screen+Shot+2018-11-27+at+7.54.42+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="662" data-original-width="500" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3BMlxDOHUhdtAAkKxyV-zhgOdcZmZ3TgX3lUVB4AIvAcEiFEfrt2vwJgmeWcY6oEDNmQ7Tg0HcuWZWpFp_1DfV9StxsDZWubE-TJVUBYbnthkBX5eojmVq2EppeDh_ni_7Q4d4ERzNduj/s200/Screen+Shot+2018-11-27+at+7.54.42+AM.png" width="150" /></a>First the vocabulary, just remembering the action, students work in pairs and to place their O or X they have to say the correct word: skill practiced speaking. You want to check the writing? spelling? Ask them to write the word on their book. You only work with TL? Ask them to write a definition: vestirse por la noche: ponerse el pijama.<br />
All these could easily be a very thorough starter or exit ticket or just even an activity in itself.<br />
We don't stop here, We create four XoX boards with each with an added skill.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpcBBI5e-vYdRqdBL44IoGLIGlJS5RQPtJJJuSxYHI6t5dfpStbv0V9TlvEbGSOXKpYIcW0zJ11hTqKyJT7tdbGx0Ej7fxqid3rq-QITbrXeb5kFCkLKbQQWyXl1mlUn3LI_zavKiq9GyN/s1600/Screen+Shot+2018-11-27+at+7.54.48+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="648" data-original-width="514" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpcBBI5e-vYdRqdBL44IoGLIGlJS5RQPtJJJuSxYHI6t5dfpStbv0V9TlvEbGSOXKpYIcW0zJ11hTqKyJT7tdbGx0Ej7fxqid3rq-QITbrXeb5kFCkLKbQQWyXl1mlUn3LI_zavKiq9GyN/s200/Screen+Shot+2018-11-27+at+7.54.48+AM.png" width="158" /></a>In my class at the moment we are learning verbs of obligation with reflexives:<br />
With this board they will have to create sentences such as I have to brush my teeth.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6M5L0s61ATreQxrjhwXdJMvzOsSkbAutx49b1_OqVyid7MlpLYL2PjvGG5B7gXwkVVKqKHz_r8SUGufNIKTv0fYmDOAs0PNMHaxf8EpvTnilblDsUAxjGR6kJJuh4bQzocs0mWzuiHoU8/s1600/Screen+Shot+2018-11-27+at+7.54.52+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="658" data-original-width="504" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6M5L0s61ATreQxrjhwXdJMvzOsSkbAutx49b1_OqVyid7MlpLYL2PjvGG5B7gXwkVVKqKHz_r8SUGufNIKTv0fYmDOAs0PNMHaxf8EpvTnilblDsUAxjGR6kJJuh4bQzocs0mWzuiHoU8/s200/Screen+Shot+2018-11-27+at+7.54.52+AM.png" width="153" /></a>The third board? Add a linking word or time or frequency adverb.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeVkpXH7if3ND5p1aoVT5yPIyQQko1o1uKMf1gCqgx05vhVNW2sbR2rvOREHZHxyrElt65QgDoTiS2GpoknLT-RwV0KFd_rqItdbyMYfxNugKlK3oeF97AzGTINZe3PNbuJaBAzaM8qTrx/s1600/Screen+Shot+2018-11-27+at+7.54.57+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="670" data-original-width="522" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeVkpXH7if3ND5p1aoVT5yPIyQQko1o1uKMf1gCqgx05vhVNW2sbR2rvOREHZHxyrElt65QgDoTiS2GpoknLT-RwV0KFd_rqItdbyMYfxNugKlK3oeF97AzGTINZe3PNbuJaBAzaM8qTrx/s200/Screen+Shot+2018-11-27+at+7.54.57+AM.png" width="155" /></a>The final board requires the student to work with before and after, this is by far going to be the hardest.<br />
After I get up, I brush my teeth.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Yes these are challenging but the kids actually love the challenge.<br />
<br />
In a couple of weeks, I might reuse this for them to conjugate the reflexive verbs and create a series of sentences, I might ask them to put all 9 pictures from a board in order. I can cut them up and hand them in as a very quick fill in exercise while others finish a task.<br />
There are so many ways to use these I highly encourage you to create your own and please comment as to what sort of result you encountered.<br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So this week, we started our second unit in Spanish on routine, this then goes into health and body parts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So I created this board game for when if comes to review all this. </span><br />

If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen the presentation. My students are going to need a LOT of reinforcement on this, I have a bunch of tasks on white boards for them to do, I also gave them two assignments to help the visual learners, a picture poster to create ( word in Spanish + picture) and a Lingt homework where I posted pictures and they have to write a full sentence using tener que, necesitar and deber.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We will work on sequencing and ordering routine actions, with connectives and some of those also require the infinitive. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Only when they will have understood those and memorized the vocabulary will I be able to try to explain how reflexives actually work.</span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV6P43rhwisPNdq4K2-VbauSFbqM7IY2D9cyqn3p7C4EabUhHYjfeuXnMAfLmVv1fDyylotr9Rxqe6-leDx1QsghHCsJbWb6z-uVKzIGTc7EmWFl5HurmJbz_xuita7SbY24uVG7ariMws/s1600/Screen+Shot+2018-11-19+at+2.01.37+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">French speakers would not have a problem because it is a familiar structure however, for English learner who have little concept of what is the object in the sentence, this will take a little while.</span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV6P43rhwisPNdq4K2-VbauSFbqM7IY2D9cyqn3p7C4EabUhHYjfeuXnMAfLmVv1fDyylotr9Rxqe6-leDx1QsghHCsJbWb6z-uVKzIGTc7EmWFl5HurmJbz_xuita7SbY24uVG7ariMws/s1600/Screen+Shot+2018-11-19+at+2.01.37+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="426" data-original-width="440" height="193" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV6P43rhwisPNdq4K2-VbauSFbqM7IY2D9cyqn3p7C4EabUhHYjfeuXnMAfLmVv1fDyylotr9Rxqe6-leDx1QsghHCsJbWb6z-uVKzIGTc7EmWFl5HurmJbz_xuita7SbY24uVG7ariMws/s200/Screen+Shot+2018-11-19+at+2.01.37+PM.png" width="200" /></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Once we are all set with reflexives, we start looking at the health components of this unit. They think it is easier but here is the caveat : TENER o ESTAR. They have just been battling with SER and ESTAR, why do I need to torment them again?! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">they will learn first body parts and with this have a little warm up gym class, the usual 'Jose dice' ( my version of Simon says) a lot of labelling, working with some of the routine activities using body pats and then working with me duele/ me duelen with a comparison on gustar. </span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgefEGnP5LHrqnQE4sc6Ysk3YXIsSJ3Xqkliwrf18SKu6w5Jvaov7KGIQocx5my66_ZMDFANMl4RIe4VOItfGtZKsWZJ5BAXDiyvmp6YGl97xpd0ZGiw7cpKRGW9gOjyG1e0yq0bGxci_cP/s1600/Screen+Shot+2018-11-19+at+2.01.46+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="410" data-original-width="434" height="188" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgefEGnP5LHrqnQE4sc6Ysk3YXIsSJ3Xqkliwrf18SKu6w5Jvaov7KGIQocx5my66_ZMDFANMl4RIe4VOItfGtZKsWZJ5BAXDiyvmp6YGl97xpd0ZGiw7cpKRGW9gOjyG1e0yq0bGxci_cP/s200/Screen+Shot+2018-11-19+at+2.01.46+PM.png" width="200" /></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">And then here is is TENER or ESTAR as to express what is wrong with you and emotions you need to work confidently and navigate those two verbs.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Finally, the boardgame, I was able to include various topics of the chapter and i really hope they will see where their gaps in knowledge are after using this. I will have to wait a few more weeks, but if you want to use it, here is the link to the TPT product page. </span><br />

When we talked about seasons, I saw that they were pretty comfortable adding colors so, now I am revisiting colors talking about animals, I am adding where they live as well. As we are running out of time I am unsure if I will get to teach them likes and dislikes.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I made a few games to introduce the vocabulary:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1. A match up game to start with</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">2.The good old ahorcado (hangman)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">3. A crossword on Learningapps ( here is the <a href="https://learningapps.org/watch?v=pd5stnpct18" target="_blank">link</a>)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">4. Using Basho and Friends's Animal song on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gERuld-iRM" target="_blank">Youtube</a> and practicing the "cuánto" questions</span><br />

I would like them to continue putting all sorts of informations together so I made a slide with cognate animals (panda, giraffe) so they can use what they have learnt/ reviewed ( colors, habitat etc) with new animals</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">8. Finally, I made a spinner game with cards with various questions about the animals.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I put new animals on there like penguin, unicorn, dragon ( our school's symbol).</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">They get so frustrated while playing and so excited at the same time! It gets them talking a lot.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So this guessing game is based on mastermind, the game we used to play back in the days with the little token of color that one person chose and that the other person had to guess in the correct order.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This is the same and can be used with many topics.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We used it and I still use it with the house and furniture and we call is : Où est boucle d'or. </span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRDL8nSgQerdMFRDa3gGtULsSZ75tHrxxWl2h8UBDiSl0cNeP6GFvELQnrNlGuNAVlOv8fn-j3nBkE4MA1pzdhFkuVSX4-AJGWSMXx9PUNTzp9GSz3cXbQ0GH0dGpXGmpdWHXbfwQSN0XU/s1600/Screen+Shot+2018-11-02+at+8.45.52+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1026" data-original-width="1430" height="229" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRDL8nSgQerdMFRDa3gGtULsSZ75tHrxxWl2h8UBDiSl0cNeP6GFvELQnrNlGuNAVlOv8fn-j3nBkE4MA1pzdhFkuVSX4-AJGWSMXx9PUNTzp9GSz3cXbQ0GH0dGpXGmpdWHXbfwQSN0XU/s320/Screen+Shot+2018-11-02+at+8.45.52+AM.png" width="320" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This time I created the same game with three levels of difficulty to keep various groups engaged on the topic of food. Students have to get depending on the level of difficulty what boucle d'or is eating for breakfast, lunch dinner etc. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Student one will secretly pick one word from each column. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Student two will have to make full sentence guessing what Boucle d'or is eating by choosing one element form each column as well. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Example Boucle d'or mange des céréales, un croque monsieur, un steak et de la purée, une crème caramel, elle boit un café et pour le goûter elle prend des chips. ( obviously this is using all the determinants and some verbs in there which student may not get to do straight away) </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">If student two matches elements, student one will tell him /her how many, not which ones.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I usually start with a teacher vs the kids version and then leave them to work with partners.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Try it, make your own, it's trully a lot of fun and sooooo much speaking. </span><br />
